LIFE AS AN AUTHOR
Hey there!๐
Welcome again for another blog.
This time I will be telling you the life as an author based of course on my experience.
Yes, you've read it right, I AM AN AUTHOR. Excuse me if you will be reading this blog in Filipino-English, I just wanted to write down in a way na mafifeel mo talaga na experience ko 'to. So ayon na nga.๐
"Paano ba kasi ang buhay author?" "May pera kaya?" "Bakit kasi sa lahat ng pwedeng pasukin pagsusulat pa?" and the list never ends. Read the following and know.
Dear Charo,.... charot!๐๐

Dear Charo,.... charot!๐๐
To be honest, being an author was never in my plans. Gusto ko lang naman makapagbasa ng libro at mainspire. I wasn't even a super duper bookworm. Sometimes, I just read books out of compliance, kasi nga required lalo na sa Literature subject (nako talaga! ewan ko na lang kung 'di ka mababaliw sa dami ng literary techniques and hyfalutin words na ginamit don๐). I go to the library and get a touch of those books, scan and skim or just read a little if I get interested. Well, often, it would just pass my mind, "WHAT IF? It would be a good legacy tho".
Deep in my heart, I know I have this deep connection with words. I know that in my mind words are playing with awesome creativity. However, I was doubtful of this gift I had, baka guni-guni ko lang ba.
Actually, my writing journey started with corny poems I wrote during my high school days. In fact, the first poem I perfectly wrote was the one I wrote for my Mom entitled "Kapag Ako ay Nagmahal" which was applauded by the class back then. After that, I was invited by our school-paper team to contribute poems. I don't know but before, it's just a hobby for me.
Fast forward, college na. I still write. Until one of my schoolmates back in high school, who was a member of the school-paper team back then and happened to be the feature-editor of the university's school-paper team, invited me again to try submitting my poem. And viola! Hindi naman siya nagkamali sa pagpush sa akin๐คฃ, my first poem was included in the school-paper (university-wide na yon, ha!) that year. Then, it went on until my poems reached up to the LitFolio (Literary Folio, it is where they published all literary creations of the students.) level.
Syempre saan naman tayo huhugot ng inspirasyon sa pagsusulat kung walang kurot at kirot sa puso, 'di ba? I-elaborate ko na lang some other blog๐ However, nabanggit ko lang 'yon kasi nga it paved the way for me to be an author. To cut it short, naheart-broken ang lola niyo, tapos Ate Jaizy, who was an author at that time, introduced me everything about authorship in just 2 hours na dapat ay 2 days training 'yon. I didn't even knew how fast that was, I just woke up then viola! I am now an author.
At first, I was enjoying it because who will not? Receiving all those applauds and appreciation from the crowd, tell me, who will not get overwhelm? However, it does not just end there. Marami pang nangyari behind the scenes that I'm afraid I won't be able to write down here kasi super haba na.
Akala mo it's easy? You think the heat of the headline last long? I'm sorry to pop your bubbles, but NO. Reality sank in after the noise of the crowd faded. After I published my books, I need to continue to promote it, with the help of my co-authors of course.Thank God for these pips, Ate Jaizy, Ate Mae and coach Kein! If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be able to keep on 'til present. In addition to that, now, I was able to write my second book.
And one thing is true, it was my big WHY which fuels me every time to keep on writing. All I've wanted is to inspire every reader with every book they get. Pero mahirap pala. Some days, I feel de-motivated but when I am reminded of this WHY I got, I get up and keep on.
Life as an author is not all about the fame or even how beautifully you can put words together. If I were to be asked, to be an author is to be a blank sheet and a life-long learner. Truth be told, hindi naman ganon kataas nakukuha from being an author and the loud applauds, sweet appreciation will be there for a couple of months or weeks even, but the way you listen to life and the way you write down the words to build connection to reach the right readers, that will create a big impact.

I learn as I write.
So to you, maybe you are thinking of writing your journey or an idea/gift you wanted to share to the world but you are bounded by limitations, I tell you DO IT.

You never know how it will inspire others. Kahit na isa lang nakabasa nyan, you never know how your story can help stir up change in one's life. As Ate Jaizy would always say, "All stories have been written, except yours."
Cheering for you! ๐
Cheering for you! ๐
It takes one deep breath and lots of courage.
All the love,
